Manifesto

Before your phone touches your mind.

The story behind Before the Scroll, a christian morning practice app that hard-blocks the apps that own your morning until you have spent ten minutes with God.

The first thing many of us reach for in the morning is the phone. Not the Lord. Not water. Not light. A piece of glass that already has a dozen things ready to argue for our attention. The algorithm was awake before we were. By the time we are done scrolling, the first hour of the day is gone, and we cannot quite name where it went.

That is the problem Before the Scroll exists to fix. Not gently. Not with a polite nudge. With a gate.

A small, hard stop in the right place.

Before the Scroll is built on a single belief: the first ten minutes of your day belong to God before they belong to anyone else. Not because ten minutes is a magic number. Because ten minutes is short enough to do every morning, even on the hard ones, and long enough for scripture to land. The verse, a reflection, a prayer. That is the practice.

The mechanism is a hard block. You pick the apps that own your morning. Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube, Reddit, anything that owns your morning. When you tap one of those apps, Before the Scroll opens instead. There is no skip. There is no emergency override that defeats the point. Phone, alarms, messages, maps, anything you did not choose to block stays reachable. Only the things you chose stay closed until the practice is done.

A practice, not a streak.

Streak apps shame you when you break them. Red numbers. Broken chains. A scoreboard that punishes the very people who need the practice most. Before the Scroll does not work that way. Your practice grows as a watercolor tree. Show up and it grows. Miss a day and it waits for you. Scripture says God meets us where we are. The interface honors that.

That is the whole design philosophy. Calm, not loud. A practice, not a productivity app. A gate, not a slowdown.

Who this is for.

Christians 18 to 40 who want their first conscious minutes to belong to God instead of the algorithm. People who already know morning scripture matters and need help making it inevitable. The faithful who keep promising themselves they will read the word first and keep losing the bet to a piece of glass. This is for them. It is for me. It is the tool I built because I needed it.

The seat offer.

The first 500 seats lock $29 once for lifetime access to Before the Scroll. Every future version is included. After the first 500 the price moves to $79. There is no subscription and no recurring charge. The app starts construction the moment the waitlist hits 1,000 signups or the first 100 lifetime seats are claimed, whichever comes first.

The ask.

If your morning belongs to the scroll, take it back. Join the waitlist. Or lock a lifetime seat. Either one tells me the practice resonates, and either one helps me build something that helps you do tomorrow morning differently than today.

Even ten minutes counts.
